In the pantheon of culinary wonders, the Classic Cheeseburger stands as an enduring testament to the fusion of simplicity and flavor. As we reflect on its rich history, we discover that this iconic creation is not just a meal but a cultural ambassador, traversing time and geography to become a symbol of comfort, unity, and the joy of savoring a perfectly crafted bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 450g ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat for juiciness)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of American or cheddar cheese
  • Optional toppings: Lettuce tomato, red onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise

Instructions

Preheat the Grill or Skillet:

  • If using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat. If using a skillet, heat it over medium-high heat.

Divide and Shape the Patties:

  • Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Gently shape each portion into a patty, making them slightly larger than the buns as they will shrink during cooking.

Season the Patties:

  • Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly on both sides of each patty. Don't be shy with the seasoning; it adds flavor to the meat.

Grill or Cook the Patties:

  • Place the patties on the preheated grill or skillet. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, adjusting the time based on your preferred level of doneness.

Add the Cheese:

  • In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty. Close the grill lid or cover the skillet to allow the cheese to melt.

Toast the Buns:

  • While the patties are cooking, cut the hamburger buns in half. Toast them on the grill or in a toaster until they achieve a golden brown color.

Assemble the Cheeseburgers:

  • Place a cooked patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of each bun. Add your desired toppings, such as lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.
