The Amazing History of Crispy Potato Cups; The story of Crispy Potato Cups begins long before ovens, muffin tins, or modern kitchens existed. Potatoes themselves have an ancient and deeply rooted history that sets the stage for the evolution of countless potato-based dishes. Indigenous people of the Andes domesticated potatoes over 7,000 years ago, cultivating them across what is now Peru and Bolivia. Potatoes were essential to early civilizations, offering reliability, versatility, and a long shelf life in harsh climates.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups shredded potatoes freshly grated or pre-shredded
  • 1 cup shredded cheese any melting cheese such as cheddar or mozzarella
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C) and lightly grease a standard muffin tin.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded potatoes, shredded cheese, salt, and black pepper, stirring until the mixture is evenly coated.
  • Spoon the potato mixture into the muffin tin, dividing it evenly among 12 cups.
  • Use the back of a spoon to press the mixture firmly into each cup, forming a compact base and slightly pushing the mixture up the sides to create a cup shape.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the edges are deep golden brown and the cups are crispy.
  • Let the Crispy Potato Cups cool for 5 minutes before lifting them out of the pan. Serve warm as a side dish or snack.
