Lemon Butter Asparagus

Lemon Butter Asparagus is a delightful dish that perfectly embodies the essence of springtime. With its vibrant green spears, bright citrus flavor, and luscious buttery sauce, it's a culinary celebration of the season's freshest produce.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus woody ends trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 lemon zest and juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese optional
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Asparagus:
  • Rinse the asparagus under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Trim off the woody ends of the asparagus spears.
  • Cook the Asparagus:
  • In a large skillet or frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the trimmed asparagus spears to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the asparagus is tender-crisp and bright green.
  • Add Lemon Flavor:
  • Zest the lemon using a fine grater or zester. Sprinkle the lemon zest over the asparagus in the skillet.
  • Squeeze the juice from the lemon and drizzle it over the asparagus. Toss the asparagus gently to coat it evenly with the lemon juice.
  • Season and Serve:
  • Season the asparagus with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the asparagus for added flavor.
  • Transfer the lemon butter asparagus to a serving platter or individual plates. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
  • Serve Warm:
  • Serve the lemon butter asparagus immediately while it's still warm. Enjoy as a side dish alongside your favorite main course, or as a flavorful addition to brunch or dinner.
